
Well I had to change it. Composition wise it just wasn't coming together the way I wanted it to. Once I reversed the curl...it flowed so fast I was thrilled! Her hair becomes the wave and it all comes from her tears. The lava comes from her lips - deep beneath the surface.

For this painting I did something I normally don't do and that was to turn the canvas as I worked on her face. I wanted to make sure she wasn't wonky! Her fern haku blends the two planes together.
