Blog Break for Emiko

My beautiful beloved puppy, Emiko, passed away on 27 Feb 2013 and my heart is so broken I cannot bring myself to do much at this point.

I am away from my studio and blogging for a bit. Thanks for understanding and I will see you back here when I am able.

  1. oh do I know how you feel. I lost my papillon 2 years ago,and my grandDOGGER, Chloe less than a year ago. When Maggie died my hubby went out and bought me another one (papillon) the same day...he said I have too much love not to have a dog...I didn't think I could love Lily, but now I don't know what I would do without her. Though I have to say, she did not ever take away of missing the other two..so sad for you..go easy on yourself, everything else can wait!

  2. Thinking of you. Said goodbye to my beloved beagle boy in Sept 2011 and still haven't brought myself to love another. At some point, maybe he will inspire a creative tribute that will bring you comfort but until then, give your heart time to mend. hugs.

  4. Emiko is such a precious looking dog. I'm so sorry for your loss. I have been where you are right now. My Ellie went to the Rainbow Bridge in Sept of 2011. You might try PetLoss.com. It helped me a lot. It was so nice to talk to other people who understood how important a 14 lb dog was to my life.

  5. I discovered your blog by way of a Joyful Art Stuff who awarded you a leibster award. (She in turn was awarded it by Denthe whose blog I follow. I came by to say hi and how nice it is to discover other art blogs but am so very sorry to hear your heartbreaking news. My art is all about animals - they inspire me and I'm passionate about animal welfare. We have two dogs and I don't think I could love a human child more than I love them so I truly appreciate how devastating this loss is to you.
I don't know that I could have another dog if anything happened to either of mine but at the same time, I volunteer at an animal re-homing shelter and seeing how many dogs would just love to have a forever home with someone who appreciates a dog's love makes me think that maybe I could. You will never replace Emiko but maybe when you feel ready in time you might be able to rescue a dog from a shelter - you may find that their love will rescue you too. For now though, my thoughts are with you at this very sad time. x

  8. My heart goes out to you. I do not have the kind of companion that you had in Emiko, but one of my very dearest friends has a soul-mate in her dog Wendy, who is not long for this world. I recently painted an etegami of Wendy for my friend, and I quoted from Elizabeth Barrett Browning's sonnet "How do I love thee; let me count the ways" because it seemed to describe my friend's feelings for Wendy so perfectly.
