EDM #11 Draw your glasses or sunglasses.
Quite a challenge for someone who NEEDS their glasses ON while drawing! Still fun though!

Glasses
Interpreter
EDM #10 Draw your hands or someone else's.
These are my hands but that is Courtney's ring. She's our oldest. She is an ASL interpreter and this is the sign for that. This is her birthday gift. She is my gift.
Jewelry
Some days I am in a rush but still want to do at least a warm up sketch. This is one. Not that I like it much but not all attempts are successful. And that is okay too.
Monday Tuesday Journal Pages
Monday stuff on top and Tuesday at the bottom with a tiny EDM to the right side. Elizabeth Smith does the sweetest little date boxes for her entries so I thought I would give it a try as well.
Organized Chaos
EDM #9
A contour line sketch of my coffee table Weds morning. While I was trying to do some warm up sketching and enjoy my coffee Chelsey needed to discuss wedding plans and ideas. And somehow the dog's collar and brush got mixed in there too. I thought a contour drawing would lend itself nicely to the chaotic aspect. What do you think?

Zentangle patterns
Sorry for the poor scan but the pencil I used was too soft to show up better. I was in the mood to do zens with pencil versus pen. I'm posting it just so you can see what an every day exercise looks like in my journal.
Chinese Lanterns
This just makes me laugh! Sometimes my brain does not (or will not ?) see certain patterns properly. This was one of those times! I was fruitlessly trying to create a series of repeatable steps for this pattern. You can see it eluded me. What you DON'T see are all the scrap pieces of paper that got tossed. You won't see this pattern very often in my work.
Look Ma! No lines!
Usually a zentangle is begun with "strings" or random lines that you fill in. On the top you can clearly see the lines but on the bottom I simply did the fillers and switched patterns as I felt led. Again, its a great way to challenge yourself and break up the "routine" in the way you do certain types of art. Makes you think further outside the box that you no longer are in anyway.
More tangling....
On the left is how I used to record patterns. I found it wasn't working for me though so I switched to some small red moleskine journals for patterns. I enter them alphabetically and have numerous patterns on one page. I will have to upload some to share at some point.
On the right I am playing with a fave color combo which I usually do not do with tangle pages but every once in awhile....
Monster Tangle
Lemon Curd
EDM 007 Draw a bottle, jar or tin in your kitchen.
Had this lovely jar of lemon curd sitting in the fridge begging to be eaten but it only got drawn.
7-16/100 Faces
i thought applying some of tam's ideas from Art, Heart, Healing might help me create a more realistic japanese face.
argggg
obviously an area that continues to elude me yet one i want to conquer so i can draw my family.
practice practice practice.
6/100 Faces
I saw a photo on snuffbox's photostream and was more than wee bit intrigued...I felt compelled to draw her though I don't think I did her justice. She has an incredible face!

4 & 5/100 Faces
3/100 Faces
2/100 Faces
1/100 Faces
I decided to work on a grouping of 100 faces. Some will be real people, others imaginary. There is no particular rhyme or reason behind each face except to keep practicing portraits and facial features.

Tea time on my art table
Art, Heart & Healing Week 2 Part 2
Art, Heart, & Healing Week 2 Part 1
Our lesson this week consisted of two parts and this portion was to make a wish for our "baby self", or any child really, of the things we wish or hope for them. The song "I Hope You Dance" seem to fit perfectly. I hope my girls never just settle for things and always go for what they want from life and in a way that pleases God.
And yes...that chubbers of a baby is me.
I don't enjoy doing gel transfers with paper but since I didn't have transparencies on hand I went with it. I ended up having to rework the transfer with pencil but I am okay with it. I am learning that I am not going to love every piece I work on and they all won't be as "perfect" as I think they should be. So what? *S* Its the joy of creating that matters!
Here we go...
This is a page from my (Almost) Daily Art Journal.
Mixed media/collage for Tamara Laporte (willowing)'s "Art, Heart & Healing" workshop.
The idea is to freely write out your thoughts on the left side and then cover them up. The right side, while not a self-portrait per se, is meant to be a "representation" of yourself.
